The Sakamoto show at 臺北市立美術館 is a timed ticket, not a walk-up museum afternoon. TFAM and CNA both say so. 坂本龍一|觀音.聽時 runs 31 October 2026 to 14 March 2027. You book a one-hour slot on OPENTIX. Each account, one slot, at most four tickets. Everyone in the group needs a ticket, including children. A handful of same-day standbys exist. Do not plan a weekend around them.
First-wave booking for 31 October to 29 November opened 15 October at 10:00. Later months follow museum announcements. The English and Chinese special-info pages disagree in one ugly way: the English table muddles walk-in versus OPENTIX. Trust the Chinese table on tfam.museum. General NT$30. Students, education-culture volunteers, and Taipei household-registration holders NT$15. NT$0 for under-6s, disabled visitors plus one companion, low-income, 65+, and a list of museum-card holders. Taipei Indigenous residents 55–64 also sit on the free list. 圓山里 residents get a free Wednesday each month, the first Wednesday.
Saturday evenings are the free slots, if you book them
Saturday 17:00, 18:00 and 19:00 are NT$0 for anyone who reserved. That is the museum's own rule, not a rumour. Saturday ordinary hours already run to 20:30. Those three hours will go first. Tuesday to Friday 09:30–17:30 is the quieter bet if you will pay NT$30. Monday the building is closed. 王大閎建築劇場 is shut 1 October to 15 December 2026 for works, so do not add it to a Sakamoto day.
Active-duty ROC military enter free through 31 December 2026. Saturday students with ID are free. None of that bypasses the reservation. Concession and free tickets still need the matching ID at the door.
What you are actually booking
CNA summarised the show as seven large installations plus archive, including 1999 LIFE opera papers, looking at how Sakamoto moved music into rooms you stand in. It previously ran at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. TFAM is not hanging concert posters. If you want his film scores in a chair, this is the wrong ticket. If you want to stand inside the later installation work, it is the right one. No group tickets, no group reservations. Phone 02-2595-7656.
Yuanshan MRT, Red line, then a 10-minute walk up 中山北路三段. Address 181. Same station as Nuit Blanche on 31 October. Opening day of Sakamoto is also Nuit Blanche night and Pride day. The museum will be a timed indoor slot in a district that is otherwise a street festival. Book an afternoon slot that day only if you like noise on the walk back. A November weekday is the sane first visit. Structured hours sit on the event page.
How to not miss the slot
OPENTIX is an e-ticket. Screenshot it. The door will want the QR and the ID that matches the concession. Arrive in the first 15 minutes of your hour. Late policy is the museum's, not yours to invent. Coat weather in December inside TFAM is still air-conditioned. The cafe is not a holding pen for people who missed the slot.
Do not pair this with 故宮 on the same morning unless you already live in Shilin. 故宮 is a different hill, a different ticket, a different crowd. Sakamoto plus 花博 lawn plus 晴光 lunch is a Zhongshan day. Sakamoto plus 士林夜市 is a tourist sandwich that wastes the timed hour. Eat in 晴光 or walk to 中山 if you want dinner that is not a night-market crush.
