Taipei's Hakka Affairs Committee is putting 義民爺 back on Liberty Square for three days, 24 to 26 October 2026. The 2026 title is 義鳴紀 TAIPEI HAKKA AGE. The work happens at 中正紀念堂國家兩廳院藝文廣場, not inside the memorial hall. Saturday and Sunday start at 臺北市客家文化主題公園 and walk to the plaza. Monday is a one-hour send-off on the square only.
This is the city's main Hakka civic weekend, not a ticketed concert. 臺北旅遊網 and the committee's own notice both list the same clock. Saturday 24 October, 08:30 to 11:00, 迎神遶境 from the Hakka Culture Theme Park to CKS. 11:00 to 12:00, 安座大典 on the plaza. 13:30 to 15:00, Hakka opera. 14:00 to 16:00, 三獻吉禮. Arts programme from 15:00 to 19:30. The market and kids zone run 09:00 to 18:00 that day and the next.
Sunday 25 October is the one that fills the streets. 挑擔踩街, 08:00 to 11:00, same park-to-plaza walk. The committee says hundreds of teams and about 6,000 people carry offerings, including Hakka clubs, language classes, migrants, and, this year, people with dogs. 11:00 to 12:00 is 主祭大典. Creative parade contest 12:00 to 13:30. Food contest 12:30 to 14:30. Arts again 15:00 to 18:00. Monday 26 October is short: 送神大典, 09:00 to 10:00, then it is over.
If you only have one slot, take Sunday morning. The Saturday palanquin line is the faith object. Sunday's carrying line is the civic object, the thing Taipei actually turns out for. Stand at the park end if you want the start. Stand on Roosevelt or the CKS approach if you want the arrival. The plaza itself is packed once the rite starts at 11:00. Do not treat the memorial hall interior as the venue. Hall hours stay 09:00 to 18:00. The carnival is the outdoor square in front of the two halls.
The market is the other half of the weekend. 臺北客庄小禾埕市集 and the 臺北客家美食節 stalls sit on the plaza 09:00 to 18:00 Saturday and Sunday. Near a hundred booths, farm goods, snacks, craft. 客家親子專區 and 哈哈糖客語故事屋 occupy the family corner on the same hours, with DIY and a kids stall market. The committee is also running an AR hunt, 義民搜神記, that can be swapped for Taipei MRT points. That is new this year. Bring a charged phone if you care. The stalls still take cash.
How to get there without fighting the walk. MRT 中正紀念堂 is the plaza. Use the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall station and follow the two halls, not the 101 loop. The Hakka Culture Theme Park is in Zhongzheng on Tingzhou Road Section 3. That is the Gongguan / Guting side of the river, a different MRT pair. If you want the procession, start there before 08:30 Saturday or 08:00 Sunday. If you only want the rite and the food, skip the park and go straight to Liberty Square after 10:30. The memorial's honour guard still runs on the hour 09:00 to 17:00 in the hall precinct. Rain cancels that. It does not automatically cancel the carnival. Check the committee page the morning of if the weather is ugly.
Eat after, not before, if you are walking the line. Yongkang Street is one MRT stop east at Dongmen once the plaza empties. Daan Forest Park is 24 hours and free if you need shade. Do not add 士林夜市 on the same afternoon. You will have already stood in a crowd. Ningxia is the calmer dinner if you still want a night market.

Transit: MRT Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall for the square. Hakka Culture Theme Park is the Gongguan / Guting side of Zhongzheng. Walk or bus the last stretch. Do not drive. The square already has event tents.
