Gongguan Christmas is a ticketed water park with lights in it, 28 November to 31 December 2026. 臺北旅遊網 listing 66399 says so. The venue is 臺北自來水園區, 思源街1號, Zhongzheng, next to the Gongguan waterfront, not 香堤大道. NTNU wind band, campus sets, and street performers sit in the same notice. The park's own tariff page is the clock you should believe until the Water Department posts a Christmas-night extension: winter hours 09:00–17:00, last ticket and last entry 16:00, Monday closed unless that Monday is a consecutive holiday.
Winter tickets are NT$50 full, NT$25 concession, under-6 free. Summer prices do not apply in December. Phone 02-8369-5104. Official park page: waterpark.water.gov.taipei. In 2025 the park did stay open later for Christmas lights. 2026 has not published that extension as of 16 October. If you arrive at 18:00 on a Tuesday in December and the gate is shut, that is the winter tariff working as written, not a cancellation.
Monday is closed, and the lights are inside the fence
People treat Gongguan Christmas like a street illumination you can see from 汀州路. Some glow leaks. The installations the city photographs are inside. Pay the ticket or look at the listing photos at home. Families who want both day flowers and night lights need a published late opening. Until that PDF exists, go at 15:00, walk the flowers, and hope the lights are already on before 17:00. That is a December dusk in Taipei, so some years it works. Some years the trees stay dark until 18:00 and you miss them.
MRT 公館, Green line, exit toward 自來水園區 / 思源街. The park sits south of the Roosevelt Road mess. 公館夜市 is the other way, north of the station, and it does not wait for your ticket stub. Eat after. The Christmas programme is the park. The night market is Gongguan on a normal winter night, which is the better dinner.

繽紛耶誕玩台北 is the city-hall and department-store programme. travel.taipei still has 2026 dates as 暫定. Gongguan is the one with a hard start, 28 November, and a hard end, 31 December. If you only have one Christmas evening in Taipei and you want 101 in the background, go to 信義. If you want a smaller park, a reservoir landscape, and fewer mall bags, Gongguan is the honest choice. The 2026 秋Out festival already used this waterfront in October. The Christmas overlay is lights and flowers on the same ground. Do not expect a second music festival. Expect photographers on the lawn, a band if NTNU is scheduled that day, and a gift stall or two. The Parks-and-Water calendar is thin on set times. Check the park's Facebook the morning you go if you care about the band.
How to stack a Gongguan winter afternoon
Walk 思源街 from the park to the river path if you still have legs. 古亭河濱 is the bike loop, not a light show. 台大 campus next door is open and quieter than the park at 16:30. 師大夜市 is a longer walk and a different crowd. None of those need the NT$50 ticket. The museum-style pump rooms inside the Water Park do. If you have children, the indoor bits are the reason the ticket is not a scam when the flowers are thin.
Bring a layer. The park is a bowl. Wind comes off the water. The Monday closure catches people who treat December as one long weekend. If Monday 28 December 2026 is not a holiday Monday, the park is shut. 1 January is outside the Christmas listing. New Year's Eve itself is the last listed day, and it will be the worst day for a quiet photo. Go on a weekday in early December.
