Free K-pop stage show at Taipei Music Center through 13 September

The TRENDY TAIPEI city programme wrapped on 6 September. One free show is still open. 潮臺北 × 潮首爾 (Trendy Taipei × Trendy Seoul) runs 4 to 13 September 2026 at Taipei Music Center's Culture Museum, second-floor special exhibition hall. Hours are 11:00 to 17:00. Opening day started at 15:00. Tickets are not required.

The official title is Return to Reality: Why Do We Gather Again? YOUJAM STUDIO, a Seoul concert-design house, is staging its first overseas show here. Curator Ryu Jae-heon (柳在憲) has designed tours for BLACKPINK, PSY and BIGBANG. The Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs press release is clear that this is not a merch museum. Props, stage models, lighting plots, sound art and production notes sit in the hall so you can see how a stadium set is built, timed and moved.

What the hall actually shows

City copy talks about a dark room with a vertical beam of light as the key visual. The idea is simple. You walk from a screen-shaped world into a physical one. That is also why the show sits in the Culture Museum instead of a shopping-mall pop-up. The same building is about to close Sing Our Songs, the long-run Taiwan pop-music story exhibition, for renovation. This is the last large booking before that shutdown.

Ryu told city media that stadium shows lock lighting, video and mechanics to 0.01-second cues. Most of that work never appears on a phone clip. He also asked a blunt question. If AI can generate a pretty stage, why do people still buy a ticket and stand in a crowd? His answer is physical. Bass in the chest. Lasers on skin. Thousands of people shouting on the same downbeat. The exhibition is his attempt to put that backstage system in a quiet room so you can look at it without a 20,000-person crush.

How this sits next to the rest of TRENDY TAIPEI

The city festival itself ran 22 August to 6 September with the slogan TAIPEI IN VIBES. Concerts, TMEX at the Music Center, and street takeovers filled those two weeks. The Seoul show was always listed as a 4 to 13 September add-on, so it outlives the main calendar. If you already used our TRENDY TAIPEI event page, treat this as the leftover indoor piece, not a second citywide festival.

Supervisors are Taipei City Government and the Department of Cultural Affairs. Organisers listed on the city release are Super Dome, TVBS, Dashow Entertainment and Taipei Music Center. Production is YOUJAM STUDIO. Official follow-up lives on trendy.taipei and the Music Center channels. The English festival overview is also on trendy.taipei/en.

Plan for a short visit. Five hours of opening time is not a full-day museum. Kunyang on the Blue line is the practical station. The Culture Museum is inside the Music Center campus at No. 99, Civic Boulevard Section 8, Nangang. Weekday afternoons are quieter than weekend noon. Photography rules were not published in the city release, so follow floor staff. There is no listed ticket, time slot or age limit.

If you want live jazz in the same building later in September, that is a different programme. The 20th Taipei Jazz Festival keeps indoor and outdoor dates through 11 October. Do not mix the two calendars at the door.
