LEGO Summer Playground Taipei 2026: 60,000-Brick Future City at Uni-President Department Store
LEGO Taiwan has turned the second-floor Dream Plaza of Uni-President Department Store Taipei into a free interactive playground running 1 to 19 July 2026, and the reason most families are making the trip is the Future City: a 60,000-brick mega-build by LEGO Certified Professional Huang Yen-Chih and builders LEGO7 and James, who spent two months on a single diorama imagining what a Taipei playground might look like 30 years from now. Entry costs nothing, the run ends Sunday 19 July, and weekday hours are 13:00 to 20:00 with weekend hours stretching to 20:30.
Three Challenge Zones, One Energy Sticker Each
The event is structured as a three-stage quest. At the Rhythm Energy Station you build a colored vinyl record, place it on a turntable to trigger music, then follow mascot Xiao Le through the "LE Party" dance to earn your soundwave sticker. At the Foot Energy Arena you draw a football mission card, score into the right goal, collect the corresponding bricks, and build a kinetic key that powers up the city. The final zone, Build the Future City, asks every visitor to spin a wheel, claim a plot, and add their own brick creation to a shared model, so by the end of the run the Future City is genuinely a crowd-built artwork.
The 60,000-Brick Future City, Up Close
The Future City is the photo anchor of the whole event and the thing that distinguishes this year from previous LEGO pop-ups in Taipei. Transport, housing, entertainment and green-energy elements are all folded into one connected streetscape, built at a scale where you can walk around it and spot details at knee height that you miss from across the room. LEGO Certified Professional Huang Yen-Chih is one of only a handful of people worldwide holding the title, and the two supporting builders each specialise in architectural and mechanical brick work, so the craft level is well above a typical mall display. Expect a queue for the best camera angle on weekends.

Completing all three challenges before 19 July earns a free LEGO-branded cooling fan while stocks last, a practical pick-up for a Taipei summer. Spend NT$500 at the pop-up store and you get set 30735 Modified Car; spend NT$3,800 for a three-piece foldable organiser; NT$4,800 adds a game-controller display shelf. Who This Suits and When To Go
Families with children roughly 4 to 12 will get the most out of the challenge zones, but the Future City alone is worth a detour for adult LEGO fans and anyone who follows certified-builder work. The pop-up is indoors at a mall, so it is a reliable rainy-day or typhoon-afternoon option in Xinyi, and it is free. Go on a weekday afternoon for the shortest queues; the final weekend (18 to 19 July) will be the busiest. After the 19 July close, the southern Taiwan leg opens in Tainan in August.
