Dadaocheng Summer Festival 2026 Spider-Man fireworks over Tamsui River Taipei

The 2026 Dadaocheng Summer Festival opens on 25 July and runs 22 days through 15 August along the Dadaocheng waterfront and Yanping Riverside Park, and for the first time the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism has licensed an international film IP to anchor the show: Sony Pictures' Spider-Man, timed to the release of Spider-Man: Rebirth. The opening night on 25 July and the closing night on 15 August each get a 20-minute combined drone-and-fireworks performance at 20:00, with Spider-Man rendered in the night sky by a large drone fleet over the river, set to the film's original score.

Three Firework Nights, Not Two

Most coverage will tell you about the opening and closing shows, but there is a third firework night on 5 August at 20:00, and this year it has been upgraded from six minutes to eight. The 5 August show is the "craft fireworks" night: shaped fireworks, crossed fan patterns, the first use of eight-core craft fireworks that bloom in layers from a single shell, and long-hanging willow fireworks that drop into the river surface. If you want the IP spectacle, go 25 July or 15 August. If you want the most artful pyrotechnics, go 5 August. All three nights start at 20:00 sharp.

Daytime Spider-Man: 9-Metre Balloon, Upside-Down House, 180-Metre Light Corridor

The IP carries through the daytime programme too. A 9-metre Spider-Man balloon, about three storeys high, stands at the Dadaocheng wharf as the festival's main photo anchor. A 180-metre waterfront light corridor mixes Marvel hero elements by day and lights up by night. The standout interactive piece is the Retro Upside-Down House, an indoor installation that fuses Dadaocheng's red-brick historic architecture with Spider-Man's inverted pose, letting visitors shoot anti-gravity photos that read like film stills. Across the river and into Dihua Street, Marvel-themed installations link the festival to the old-street shopping district.

Music, Markets, And The Dihua Street Stamp Rally

The riverside container market runs throughout the festival, with food, drink and craft stalls along the wharf. On the music front, Golden Melody-nominated indie band Sweet John and folk-pop outfit Wendy Wander headline a riverside summer-night party, with more acts to be announced. On 1 August, the action moves to Yongle Square in the old street for a daytime music feast and a Spider-Man IP flash event, the details of which the city government is still rolling out. A smart stamp-rally across Dihua Street shops is designed to pull festival crowds into the heritage district, with limited Spider-Man-themed offers at participating stores.

Getting There: Take The MRT, Do Not Drive

The city government is blunt about this: do not drive to the festival on firework nights. Roads around the wharf are cleared, YouBike stations in the zone suspend service, and parking within walking distance fills hours before 20:00. The three recommended MRT stations are Beimen (blue line, about 10 minutes on foot), Daqiaotou (orange line, about 12 minutes) and Shuanglian (red line, about 15 minutes via Minsheng West Road). For the 25 July and 15 August shows, arriving by 18:30 gives you a realistic shot at a good riverside spot; the 5 August craft night draws a smaller crowd but the best viewing is still from the Dadaocheng wharf side, not the opposite bank.
