On 28 August, 10 Corso Como opened at Breeze Center in Taipei, occupying about 70 ping on the first floor of the mall at 39 Fuxing South Road Section 1, Songshan District. The Milan concept store, founded in 1991 at 10 Corso Como, is still one of the longest-running hybrid fashion spaces of its kind. Italian entrepreneur Tiziana Fausti took over in 2020 and has been opening overseas shops; Taipei is the latest.

Fashion editor Kuan Lin, writing for Vogue Taiwan after visiting, describes the original Milan house as a place you reach through a narrow door, over stone paving and through dense greenery, with no conventional shop window. The space then opens onto a small garden, a glass wall, a dim restaurant on one side, a bright store and bookshop on the other, a gallery upstairs, and 3Rooms, described as the world's smallest hotel. The Taipei shop cannot copy that whole compound, but it does import several Milan details: a large stainless-steel counter, printed totes with the 10 Corso Como mark, and a huge art-installation seat by Italian design studio Imperfetto Lab.

Fausti and her Italian team came to Taipei for the opening and sat for an interview. She said she already had a working relationship with the Breeze group from her own e-commerce business, before she acquired 10 Corso Como, and that the takeover deepened the will to collaborate. Online shopping, she argued, cannot give you fashion's full texture: some details only register when you walk in, touch the goods, and feel the construction. She said she trusts Taipei customers' taste.

What is on the floor in Taipei

Asia's largest 10 Corso Como operation is still Seoul, with a standalone concept store and three locations in total. Seoul's buying and operations are run independently by the Korean team, after years of local work. Taipei's assortment is currently planned by the Milan store's head buyer together with Breeze.

Exclusive labels for Taipei include Givenchy, The Frankie Shop, PANCONESI, and God's True Cashmere. The wider mix gathers Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Versace, Marni, Rick Owens, Khaite, Ader Error, Willy Chavarria, Hed Mayner, and Cecilie Bahnsen.

God's True Cashmere is a first for this market in the editor's account: a top cashmere line founded by Brad Pitt, made entirely in Italy, with simple cuts meant to last. During press for The Odyssey, Matt Damon said Tom Holland once gave him a God's True Cashmere shirt, and that it is among his favourite shirt brands.

Asked whether Taipei will get a 10 Corso Como restaurant like Milan and Seoul, Fausti smiled and did not answer directly.

From a garage to a living magazine

The store began with Carla Sozzani, a former Italian fashion editor. Her sister was Franca Sozzani, the late editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue. The first site was an old garage. Carla used the curatorial eye she had built on magazines to show fashion photographers, designers, and artists. Before the web was everywhere, people gathered there to trade culture and ideas. Italian sociologist Francesco Morace coined the term "concept store"; 10 Corso Como is widely treated as an early working example.

Carla once wrote that she imagined a space where things that had lived only as glossy magazine pages could enter the real world and still sit together in harmony. Shopping was never the only point. Looking around, staying, and talking were the brief. The house still describes that idea as a living magazine.

The black-and-white circle-and-line mark is by American artist Kris Ruhs, who grew up in 1960s New York. He and Carla Sozzani worked out how to turn the garage into a forward gallery. That graphic and atmosphere have lasted.

Who runs it now

Fausti started in fashion in 1979, drawing on a family leather-goods workshop. She opened her first multi-brand store in Bergamo, in northern Italy, then a namesake e-commerce business known for a sharp commercial eye and a cultural one. In September 2020 she took over 10 Corso Como through her holding company Exor, and repaired its finances.

Under her, three changes stand out. Italian architecture studio 2050+ replanned the Milan flagship. The cultural programme continues: exhibitions, performances, talks, book launches, and work with museums, archives, foundations, and galleries. The third is overseas growth. After Taipei, she said Dubai and Shanghai are next on the list.

Fausti on concept stores, art, and Taipei

In the Vogue Taiwan conversation, she defined a concept store by plurality and culture. Milan is not a single boutique. It holds food, a gallery, a bookshop, fashion, and fragrance. Staff do not hard-sell. Visitors are meant to move through the rooms slowly. If someone leaves with an idea, that is enough.

On whether young people now care more about art than fashion, she said fashion increasingly borrows from art, so the two look fused. For that generation, she argued, the split barely exists; what matters is whether something feeds how they live.

10 Corso Como was a long-time creative partner of Comme des Garçons. Asked about Dover Street Market, she said DSM's buying is more radical and graphic, with a strong avant-garde push, often in black and white. 10 Corso Como aims for quiet, a calmer luxury, more contemporary than confrontational. She said she admires DSM's work.

Among Japanese designers her favourite is Yohji Yamamoto, whom she called her number-one legend. Two years ago the store ran a two-month show, Yohji Yamamoto. Letter to the Future (2024), with 29 pieces; about 20,000 people came. During September Milan Fashion Week it was due to stage its first Issey Miyake exhibition, keyed to Yves Klein blue, using one colour to show what garments and cloth can do. She still follows Rei Kawakubo and Yamamoto, and joked that their prices have become harder to ignore.

She thinks people who come to 10 Corso Como already know what they want. The Milan house is not on the busiest stretch of street; most visits are deliberate. Staff are trained to guide, and conversation is treated as part of the job, a way to stir curiosity between different views.

Asia still matters to the multi-brand market, she said, more than a slower European luxury scene. She had dealt with Breeze in her earlier business, found this partnership easy, and is confident in Taipei. Asked about Taiwanese taste, she started with food: Taiwan, she said, is one of the places in the world that understands eating best.
