Taipei Spring Guide

Cherry blossoms, flower festivals, riverside picnics, and the best outdoor dining from March through May.

Spring in Taipei: A Season of Color

Spring is arguably the most beautiful season in Taipei. From March to May, the city transforms into a canvas of pink, white, and purple as cherry blossoms, azaleas, and calla lilies bloom across the mountains and parks.

The highlight is the Yangmingshan cherry blossom season, which arrives unusually early (late January to early February) due to the mountain's cooler temperatures. The Flower Clock area and Pingjing Street become pilgrimage sites for photographers and flower enthusiasts.

Spring is also the perfect time for outdoor dining. The mild weather (18–26°C) and low humidity make it ideal for riverside cafes, mountain tea houses, and park picnics. From the sunset spots in Tamsui to the gondola-accessed tea houses of Maokong, Taipei offers endless ways to enjoy the season outdoors.

Spring Travel Tips

Yangmingshan cherry blossoms bloom in late January to early February—earlier than most of Taiwan due to the altitude.

Tamsui's cherry blossoms peak in late March. Combine with a sunset walk along the riverside for a perfect spring day.

Flower festivals attract huge crowds on weekends. Visit on weekday mornings for the best photos and least congestion.

Spring weather is unpredictable. Bring layers—mornings can be cool (15°C) while afternoons warm up to 25°C.

April is the rainiest month. Pack a compact umbrella and waterproof shoes for outdoor activities.

Maokong gondola is the best way to reach the tea houses—take the crystal cabin for panoramic views.
