The Dreamwalker - Zhou Biwen Piano Recital 2026

The Dreamwalker is Taiwanese pianist Zhou Biwen's homecoming recital, shaped around a childhood essay in which he first wrote of wanting to study abroad and become a pianist. Now, years on, the programme traces that journey from dream to reality - opening with the silken clarity of Scarlatti and the classical rigour of Haydn, building through the driving tension of Prokofiev's Fifth Sonata, and arriving at the poetic sweep of Liszt's B minor Sonata. Threaded through the European canon is a specifically Taiwanese voice: Chen Sizhi's Dragon Dance, a work of cultural memory that roots the programme in the place Biwen left in order to return. It is a carefully constructed setlist that mirrors the arc of an artist's life - discipline, ambition, and the pull of home. The recital takes place in the Recital Hall of the National Theater and Concert Hall at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, one of Taipei's finest chamber venues.
